Welcome to the Sun Valley Elementary School department page. Below you will find introductions to our school counselor and social worker, as well as information about the services each can provide for our students and families.
Introductions
Jazmyn Horton, School Social Worker
Hi Sun Valley families! I am so excited to be joining the SVES Ohana this year as your School Social Worker. I am from Southern California where I got my degrees in Psychology and Social Work from San Diego State University. I have experience working with infants all the way to older adults and especially love working in a school setting. In my spare time I love to read, listen to music and go for walks with my dog.
My role is to help support you and your kids in school and outside of school with a variety of different things like community resource information, social emotional learning skills, friendship groups, individual goal setting for academics or emotional issues and family support during tricky times. I am here to support the wellbeing of all our students and their families. I look forward to working with all our families and students! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me for any reason.

I am so happy to be supporting your students this year and feel so lucky to have joined the Sun Valley Ohana! I have spent the last 11 years in Alaska and am enjoying this warmer Nevada weather.
I will be going into classrooms this year to teach lessons on conflict resolution, self-esteem, goal setting, responsibility, respect, emotional awareness, and many other awesome life skills! I am here to help your students feel safe, healthy and happy at school and I greatly enjoy helping them uncover what they have and need to feel successful.
